We love it here.
Blount County offers a quality of life to our residents that, well, we think can't be beat. We love our communities, from the largest to the smallest, and each one is unique and charming. From the county seat of Oneonta, to its cozy neighbor Rosa, Blount County makes it easy to settle down.
A top priority for many new residents is education. Blount County is proud to have two top ranked school systems: The Oneonta City School System and The Blount County School System. Both systems are among the top in the state and are supported locally by outstanding Education Foundations (The Oneonta Foundation for Educational Resources and The Blount County Education Foundation).
Each community is full of options! If you are looking for a remote farm or country home, we have that. If you prefer a home in a well developed subdivision or need the convenience of living right in town, we have that, too. Love golf? Blount County is home to two nationally recognized golf course communities, Limestone Springs and Heritage Golf. Come get aquatinted with our towns and countryside. You'll love living here!
Blount Springs Community: Fueled by an increasing desire among nearby urban residents to return to nature, as well as Blount Springs' proximity and easy access to a major metropolitan area after the completion of I-65, the area offered a prime location for development. In 1989 the first efforts toward the recolonization of Blount Springs were initiated. A new community based on the principles of New Urbanism sprang up from the limestone, sheltered by massive oaks, hickories, and beeches. Blue Hole Lake was dredged and deepened, and the dam across Mill Creek was built higher, producing a beautiful 7-acre lake for boating, swimming, and fishing. The first section of the Village at Blount Springs, originally called Blue Hole Village, today consists of about 65 homes, all with one-of-a-kind designs. Every home has a broad porch designed for neighborly interaction, or for simply enjoying the breeze and listening to the birds sing.
Heritage Golf: Champion Bermuda on a scenic course, Heritage has a unique personality sporting many water hazards with fairways strategically placed around them. A one-of-a-kind layout makes it a unique and efficient round with six of 18 holes coming back to the clubhouse. With 5-Star Service from a Professional Staff, nowhere in the surrounding area will you find a more knowledgeable and professional organization. The Staff is helpful and accommodating so that you can sit back and enjoy the experience. Residential opportunities are just around the corner at Heritage Golf. Residential lots are available for your plans.
Limestone Springs: Limestone Springs Golf Club is one of Alabama’s best public golf courses. Located 30 minutes north of Birmingham, Alabama, this 18-hole championship golf course is nestled throughout 225 acres of the Appalachian Mountains and offers some of the most dramatic elevations and picturesque views in the state. Designed by former U.S. Open winner Jerry Pate, Limestone Springs Golf Course stretches almost 7,000 yards from the back tees. Limestone Springs has also been consistently rated 4 ½ stars by Golf Digest’s Places to Play, ranked in the top five public golf courses in Alabama by GolfWeek, and named to America’s Top Golf Courses by Zagat Survey.
